Quartet
The Aluna String Quartet is formed from 4 highly professional experienced musicians who have made music their life's work and passion. Their careers have taken them all over the world and to many amazing venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and main stage Glastonbury playing for some notable names and in a wide mix of genres, opera, ballet, film and pop sessions, TV appearences, big band, jazz, just about everything you could think of.
We pride ourselves on our friendly approach, no question is too small, we are more than happy to advise on music choices whatever your event.

Mandy Britton Violin
Mandy Britton studied violin at the Royal Academy of Music before joining the Royal Ballet Sinfonia and then the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. After two years Mandy moved to Manchester to join the orchestra for Phantom of the Opera.
During her time in Manchester she joined the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra and freelanced with Manchester Camerata, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Halle, Opera North, Northern Ballet and Welsh National Opera.
Mandy now lives in Hertfordshire where she enjoys teaching and coaching and plays regularly with the City of London Sinfonia, Royal Ballet Sinfonia and is a member of the Aluna String Quartet.
Fiona Robertson Violin
Fiona Robertson studied Violin at the Royal Northern College of Music with Richard Deakin going on to a freelance career in the North of England, playing with The Halle, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, and the Manchester Camerata.
She moved down to Bedfordshire in 1999 and has been a full time member with the Royal Ballet Sinfonia since 2001. Fiona is also a member of the Laurel String Quartet who regularly gives recitals in the area.
Apart from private teaching, Fiona is a violin tutor at Haberdashers‘ Aske’s School for Girls in Watford.
Sheila Holdsworth Viola
Sheila has been a freelance viola player since 1990 and has enjoyed a varied career playing for Covent Garden, BBC SO, Birmingham Royal Ballet, Welsh National Opera, LPO, West End shows and her favourite gig, the Bootleg Beatles amongst others. Sheila also plays for various string quartets enjoying the variety of experiences this brings.
Sheila has always had fingers in other pies including running her own bra business called Know Knockers winning Take a Break’s competition Tycoon Idol in 2004 plus a brief dabble into the world if stand up comedy.
David Robinson Cello
David read Music at Manchester University, where he studied cello with Bernard Gregor-Smith of the Lindsay Quartet. Following a post graduate year at the Royal Academy of Music he has followed a varied career of teaching and playing. His orchestral work includes Manchester Camerata, London Festival Orchestra and the New Queen’s Hall Orchestra.
His quartet playing has taken him to St James’s Palace, No. 10 Downing Street and the Ritz hotel, amongst other places. He has played in Europe, Asia and Latin America.
David has toured with Blur and recorded with Edwyn Collins.
David teaches the cello in North London, including Highgate School, UCS school and QE Boys in Barnet.
